Mimico is a former municipality, in the south-west area of Toronto. It's a gateway to the west-end waterfront neighbourhoods. It is at the south-east corner of the Etobicoke city, until 1967, it was an independent municipality. It was ranked first by Toronto Life magazine on their "Where to Buy Now" list of Toronto neighbourhoods.
Mimico is a well-established community, which features scenic lakefront parks and excellent recreational facilities. Mimico Tennis Club, the Mimico Cruising Club and the Etobicoke Yacht Club are some of the recreational facilities in Mimico, which offer the residents many enthusiastic activities to help refresh themselves. Many local events such as the “Lakeshore Community Festival” are organized annually, in which people show great community spirit and participate with huge enthusiasm. The Humber Bay Park has a few picnic spots, boat slips, walking trails and grasslands for use. Churches, Schools and other educational institutes are also present in this area. Besides all of the listed advantages, Mimico is a short commute to downtown Toronto with its own Go Transit train station located on Royal York Road.
